WITH A RICH HERITAGE DATING BACK TO 1881, Seiko’s precision technology has changed global standards with one innovative product after another. From the production of Japan’s first wristwatch in 1913, to the creation of the quartz watch in 1969, and the GPS solar watch in 2012, the company’s longevity and prominence have made it a household name and a trusted brand across the world.
Seiko’s vision is ‘Innovation and Refinement’. The brand’s strength lies in its commitment to finely craft every component and integrate every process inhouse, from development and design, to manufacturing and assembly. It is a true, vertically integrated ‘manufacturing’ company. The company takes tremendous pride in the words ‘Japanese Manufacture’; words that describe Seiko’s sincere determination to produce exceptional quality watches that respond to the broad preferences of a global customer base, from affordable to sports watches to luxury handcrafted Grand Seikos.
Today, Seiko is run by the fourth generation of the Hattori family. CEO Shinji Hattori is the greatgrandson of the founder of Seiko, Kintaro Hattori, whose vision inspires the company as it moves ahead. Very few timepiece companies in the world are still run by the same family.
A new Seiko Boutique has just opened at Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Ngee Ann City, in Singapore. The concept boutique showcases the premium lines of Seiko such as Astron, Prospex, Presage and Premier. It also houses an independent Grand Seiko corner. This move serves to further cement Seiko’s brand positioning and reputation as prestige watchmakers.
