SINCE 1931, AIA HAS SERVED GENERATIONS of Singaporeans. More recently, the four-time platinum award-winning life insurance company has focused on building an inclusive community that encourages more individuals and families to live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives, as part of broader efforts to create a more sustainable future for stakeholders.
In 2021, AIA Singapore launched the AIA Better Lives Fund. Administered by the Community Chest, the fund aims to raise money to support children and families in Singapore through its adopted charity partners: Children’s Wishing Well and Viva Foundation for children with cancer. The money raised goes towards providing greater access and opportunities to children, youth and their families for education, growth and development.
Also in 2021, AIA Singapore pledged $5 million to NParks’ registered charity Garden City Fund over a five-year period. Projects supported by NParks go towards fulfilling its City in Nature vision. AIA’s pledge will see a total of 16,666 trees planted across Singapore’s parks and nature reserves, which will help support existing habitats as well as create more urban green spaces for communities across the city.
The trees also contribute to NParks’ OneMillionTrees movement, which aims to plant more than a million trees across Singapore over ten years. AIA Singapore’s contribution to date is the largest from the private sector.
ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY THROUGH SPORTS
To raise money in support of the AIA Better Lives Fund and unite the community through sports, AIA Singapore has been working closely with its global partner, Tottenham Hotspur FC, on a myriad of fundraising initiatives.
For example, last year, Tottenham Hotspur players wore special-edition AIA Better Lives Fund shirts during their Premier League match against Leicester City. The special-edition shirts, together with other club memorabilia, were then autographed by players and auctioned off. Following the match, AIA Singapore collaborated with local celebrities to raise more funds via a Facebook livestream auction.
In November 2022, it hosted AIA Kids’ Football Clinics, where 500 children learnt critical skills from international development coaches from Tottenham Hotspur FC and Football Association of Singapore.
And in January this year, AIA Singapore appointed Tottenham Hotspur player Son Heung-min as its first brand ambassador, promoting holistic wellness amongst Singaporeans. As AIA Singapore’s brand ambassador, Son Heung-min will inspire Singaporeans to live better every day by promoting holistic wellness in three key aspects: physical health; motivation and mental health; and financial health.
His appointment comes as part of the AIA One Billion (AOB) movement, an AIA group initiative which aims to engage, educate and inspire a billion people across the region to live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives by 2030.
